since nobody really listens to me or reads these i may as well give you good advice. these two flix are so good they aren't even on the radar. the first is Sunshine. this movie is goooood! event horizon, 2001, red planet, good. trust me. it's the best sci-fi movie you have never heard of.

the next movie is Trade. its a movie about the sex slave trade in the US and Mexico. this movie should be seen by everybody. things like this go on every day and you should know about it. it also has kevin kline (phoebe kate's kevin klein) and he does an amazing job along with a bunch of other actors that are equally as good that i have never seen before.

so get off your asses and then get back on them and catch these flix!

I don't really put up a lot of stuff about video games, but i have just played and finished one of the coolest games ever made. not only because of the 9 dollar price tag but by the shear magnitude of cleverness and personality in it. the game is Portal. it's got the look of a first person shooter, but it's more of a puzzle game that involves a portal gun.

i know, i know, dork shit, but if you try it, i think you may like it.

i have put up the ending screen and video for you all to check out (since i know none of you will play it). the best part is at the end all you get is cake and a nice song. the best pay out in gaming history.

Big Wednesday is the only surf movie to ever get it right. like a lot of things on film and in movies there can be a profound lack of understanding that shows in the portrayal of more esoteric themes. it has always bugged me that surfing has always been one of them. this movie is stellar in every way. shakka ...

Point Break being it's polar opposite.

synopsis: The lives of three California surfers from the early '60s to the '70s.

L.A. Story takes me to an LA of the shakesperean past. i know its hard to imagine, but that is why this movie makes you look twice. the older i get the better this movie becomes and the more it makes perfect sense. "is this a part of the new cruelty?"

synopsis: Harris Telemacher is the "Wacky Weather" presenter for a Los Angeles television station. He finds himself battling the insane conditions and people caused by the manic chaos that is Los Angeles. Striving to achieve happiness (or at least a date), he finds a helping hand from the last person he expected: the city of Los Angeles itself.

as you all may have found out, i have been watching a lot of movies lately. it's been a blast! i have to say there are some gems out there, if you can skip a michael bay flik once in a while. this jewel is called The Gore, Gore, Girls! (1972) if you look closly you can see every private detective tv show ever done. B.T.W. the guy in this rocks with the dead pan delivery. 2 gorey thumbs up.

synopsis: Strippers at a sleazy club are being mutilated at an alarming rate. A pretty reporter enlists the aid of a debonair detective to solve the case and land her a front-page story. Soon, the two are wading through evidence against a vegetable pulverizing freak, a creepy college student, and a group of angry feminists.

possibly the most used and definately my favorite piece of stock surfing footage ever taken. this one is from one of my absolute favorite cheesy surf flicks from 1987, North Shore.

fuckin' howlee synopsis: Before entering art school next autumn, Rick sets out to spend the summer surfing at Hawaii. He knows nothing about the local habits, what causes him some starting problems, but by chance he gets a room in the house of guru Chandler. He teaches him the difference between 'soul surfers' and those who surf for fame and money. Also he manages to get the attention of a beautiful young native. (Features special appearances by real-life champions like Shaun Tompson, Derek Ho, Occy, Mark Richards, Gerry Lopez, Mike Laytronic, Laird Hamilton, Hans Hedeman, + more.)

Vanishing Point [1971] is one of the THE coolest movie i have ever seen.

synopsis: Kowalski, the hero of the story, works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to Frisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar and you've got a great cult hit from the early 70's.
