... and you, standing fast in the hot, inky, blue of night, the waves eat the shore like the heat eats at the back of your neck. grinding and chewing in time with the beligerant surf. tumble weeds blow in from the desert, along with ghosts of santa ana and his soldiers, running hot on the trail of the feathered serpent.

it seems to be 4 o'clock here and the fog is creeping up my block. hand over hand it prowls along the roof tops, poking it long whispy fingers in to all of our lives. floating around in our collective crawl spaces obscuring the view with milky shadows. my woven shield of water vapor and sea salt will sleep in the tree outside my window without me tonight. it's just a little too cold.
